Photos, Dave's wedding

As promised I have some photos of Dave's wedding. I managed to pirate a few pics from other websites and Ryan was nice enough to send some over as well. Enjoy.

Matt and Ryan at the rehearsal dinner. Note the pimping bow tie, he tied it himself. I was impressed. Pip pip old chap.

There once was a man named Dave....

I had mentioned in previous posts that I have 2 or three friends from childhood, but probably none as close as Dave. We have been friends since Elementary School. We grew up on GI Joe, Transformers and HeMan. We've been to Mexico to London and back together. We were college roommates for at least 6 years. After college we became neighbors when we moved to Salt Lake together. He has always been like the big brother I never had.

Now, Dave is a very strong, self sufficient individual. He is not a selfish person, but very independent. So when he told me last winter he was getting married I was surprised and happy for him. This past weekend we flew to SLC for his and Cortney's wedding. Now as you can probably tell by reading our blog I like taking pictures. I usually have our camera with us most places we go. So you can imagine how pissed I was when I got to Midway UT and realized I had forgot my camera. The photos you see below were taken a couple of years ago when went back to SLC to visit our friends. I am trying to get some photos from the wedding taken by other friends and will post them when I do.

So about the wedding. It all started on Friday. Wende, Macie and I flew into SLC around noon. She had plans with friends and family for the night. So I met up with Dave's Dad, Mike, his wife Betsy and Ryan, his brother at the airport and hitched a ride to Midway. Midway is a small town just south of Park City. It is great this time of year with highs in the 70's, leaves changing colors and clean mountain air.

We arrived at the Homestead, got checked into the rooms and settled in. That afternoon the guys met up for a few drinks and it was great to shoot the crap with them. The rehearsal dinner that night took place at the Blue Boar Inn, just down the road from the Homestead. It was a great dinner with some of the best food I have ever had. Wine, champagne roasting and toasting topped off the night. Later that night the guys all gathered for another bull session and to listen to the new Metallica CD compliments of my brother Kayvon.

The next morning Wende drove up to the resort and met me for breakfast. The wedding started at 11, officiated by my brother-in-law Kayvon. He did a great job and the ceremony went off without a hitch. I think I may have even seen Dave shed a tear or two during his vows. A sight I have not seen since 1984 when he lost his favorite Transformer to the depths of Lake Powell. The ceremony was followed by lunch and of course the wedding photos.

The reception dinner started that night at 6 and was followed by dancing, toasting, and the traditional stuff (cake cutting, garter and flower toss). We got to visit with some old friends that we had not seen in a couple of years. All in all it was a great weekend. Congrats again Dave and Cortney.

General Update

So it has been awhile since I have posted just a general update on us. Life is good and we are very fortunate people. Macie is growing fast and learning to talk which keeps us laughing all the time. We get compliments daily on how cute she is or how well behaved she is, and it makes us proud. We definitely could not imagine life with out her. The best part is watching her discover new things, like eating with a fork or pointing at an airplane fly overhead or say the word 'apple'. It really is the little things in life.

She has been a little sick over the past week with Hand, Foot and Mouth disease. It actually sounds a little worse than it is, but no fun none the less. It is a common childhood virus that is passed from kid to kid. It causes fever and sores in the mouth and/or on the hands and feet. It usually lasts 3-5 days. Monday and Tuesday was rough but she is definitely kicking it over the past 24-48 hours. She is back to her inquisitive self, climbing all over and exploring every nook and cranny of the house.

Wende is doing well with the 2nd pregnancy. 13 weeks along now. The nausea and vomiting finally gave up after week 7 or 8. We have a regular appt next Monday and should be able find out the sex in about 5-6 more weeks. I've asked Wende to wait and just find out when he/she is born, but she is a little too type A personality for that :-). She is hoping for another girl and I could go either way. A boy would be great, but Macie has me suckered for little girls.

As for me, still working away in Adult Med in Mesa. The practice is still growing so it has been a little slow this summer. However, I can not complain that I have had every Friday off to spend with my little family. We still live in Queen Creek and enjoy our home, neighbors and family that live close by. We get together often with them for BBQs, cards and some ROCK BAND (a big shout out to my fellow bandmates in Tallywacks Banana).

This weekend we head to Salt Lake for my good friend Dave's wedding. He is getting married in Midway, near Park City, so we are looking forward to some cool weather. I will drop an update after the weekend with some photos.
